THE END of February is near and winter is coming to an end as well, even though one could say that it never completely arrived in the country.

Meteorologists forecast dry and warm weather for the upcoming days. In mountains at altitudes of about 1,000 metres, the temperature will be between two and five degrees. There will be no snow, but also no rain. Skiers can rather expect partly cloudy weather with some small showers. But the snow should keep on the slopes, as March is expected to be cold and rich in snow.

Donovaly will house the biggest festival of the season, Skočsy, on March 1 featuring snowboardists and live concerts by Para, Desmond and Vierka Berkyová.

The FIS sports resort in Štrbské Pleso will host the Slovak Championship in ski jumps for men and juniors on March 2 and 3.

Because the temperature in the mountains is often changing, we recommend skiers to take sharp ski edges as slopes are icy. especially in the mornings.
