A traditional London double-decker, which is on a six-month tour of European capitals, came to Bratislava on Thursday to promote studying English in foreign countries.
The blue 1961 double-decker should attract the attention of those interested in learning languages, said Martin Volek from Education First (EF), which offers language trips all over the world.
"Our aim is to advise people on where to go and what the possibilities are so that they can decide properly," Volek said. He added that, according to his experience, participants of language trips not only bring new language knowledge, but also learn to be more tolerant of other cultures. "And this is what today's Europe needs," he added.
As a part of the double-decker tour, the organisers visit schools to teach young people English with the help of music in an effort to show them that learning languages can be fun.
According to statistics presented by Volek, adult Slovaks are most interested in language stays in Malta, wanting to combine their holiday and learning. But children are interested in England. EF, which has existed for more than 40 years, is the biggest language-education organisation in the world. TASR
