Draft amendment on intelligence service

OPPOSITION MP Robert Kaliňák submitted a draft amendment to the law on the Slovak Intelligence Service (SIS) to parliament that would have the head of the SIS elected by MPs rather than by the cabinet.

Slovak economic daily Hospodárske noviny wrote on January 4 that the draft would also narrow SIS influence in fighting organized crime, keeping domestic order, and combating economic crimes.
