EIB to help cover large-scale projects

The European Investment Bank (EIB) will help Slovakia to finance its large-scale projects. Deputy PM Pál Csáky said that the bank would provide loans for highway construction. The bank will be later refunded from EU pre-accession funds.

The Finance Ministry has shaped new terms for cooperation with the EIB that seem to be acceptable for both parties. Csáky explained that the ministry had originally rejected EIB assistance due to initial misunderstanding and concerns that an EIB loan might deepen the public finance deficit, the daily Národná obroda wrote.
