THE SLOVAK government has received eight preliminary bids for majority stakes (66 percent) concerning the privatization of Slovakia’s two largest international airports – the M R Štefánik airport in Bratislava and Košice Airport, the TASR news agency reported.
Two companies that were once considered the most likely to take control of the airports - Austrian Airlines (AUA) and German company Fraport AG - announced that they do not intend to take part in the privatization.
In the next two weeks, following evaluation of the bids, a list of candidates will be established. These companies will be given access to the so-called data room of both airports. The winner of the tender should be announced by the end of this year.
Among the bidders are the "Airport TwoOne" consortium of Penta Investments Ltd, Airport Vienna and Raiffeisen Zentralbank Austria (RZB) and International firm Abertis.
