Slovakia has 5,932 zone polling stations in 90 election districts.

There are altogether 2,571 candidates for the seats in eight regional parliaments and 65 people are vying for the post of VÚC governors, according to the TASR newswire.

Voters cannot use the voter certificates. They must cast the ballots at the polling station in the zone where they have permanent residence.

Foreigners with permanent residence in Slovakia can vote in the regional elections. The Interior Ministry currently registered 56,562 foreigners as of November 2, the SITA newswire wrote.

The first preliminary results will be published on the website of the Statistics Office (www.statistics.sk) or at www.volbysr.sk shortly after 22:00.
