SLOVAK Deputy PM Pál Csáky and EU Commissioner for Employment Vladimír Špidla agreed at their February 3 meeting in Bratislava that the EU should cancel its existing restrictions on the employment of people from new member countries.
Špidla said that the EU could not accomplish its main goal of fostering an integrated Europe with a single market without free movement of labour, the SITA news agency wrote.
The older EU members have until May to decide whether they will preserve restrictions against newcomers.
