The unemployment rate in Slovakia reached 9.9 percent in August, which is the second highest in the EU, according to data published by the European Statistics Office on October 1.

The unemployment rate in Slovakia reached 9.9 percent in August, which is the second highest in the EU, according to data published by the European Statistics Office on October 1.

The unemployment rate in Slovakia declined 0.1 percentage point month-on-month in August. In the EU as a whole, unemployment didn't change compared to July and remained at 6.9 percent, while it fell by 0.2 percent year-on-year. Spain had the highest unemployment rate among EU members, 11.3 percent. The lowest rates are in the Netherlands (2.6 percent) and Denmark (2.9 percent). TASR
