Former Smer MP Ľubica Rošková, as well as her company Agro Porúbka, have been accused of committing EU agricultural subsidy fraud and causing damage to the EU.

"An investigator of the National Anti-Corruption Unit brought charges against two physical persons and one legal entity last December for damaging financial interests of the EU and for committing subsidy fraud," Police Corps spokesperson Michal Slivka told the Aktuality.sk website.

The scandal over farm subsidies, which she received for plots she did not actually own, or not even agricultural land, broke the news after the Denník N daily published a story last year in which Agro Porúbka played a leading role.

The National Criminal Agency (NAKA) started investigating Rošková's company, Agro Porúbka, last March upon the order of a prosecutor from the Specialised Prosecutor's Office, the SITA newswire reported.

Smer then suspended Rošková's membership in the party as well.
