A 43-YEAR old man from the Skalica district is facing up to three years in prison for using forged state exam results and a forged diploma from Comenius University in Bratislava in a failed attempt to get a pay rise.
The target chosen by he man for his scam turned out to be ill-advised: he submitted the false documents to the Associated High School in Skalica, his employer, the SITA newswire wrote.
“The school's principal discovered the forgeries after verifying them with the university,” Mária Linkešová from the Trnava district police reported.
A police investigation confirmed the documents were fake. Linkešová said the man bought the forgeries, but it is not known from whom.
The vice-chancellor for education at Comenius University, Anna Predmerská, told SITA that a cursory glance revealed the documents to be forgeries.
Commenting on their appearance, she said, “They looked amateurish.” She added that the forgeries had definitely not come from a university employee.
The director of the school in Skalica is not commenting, calling the case an internal issue.
