PRIME Minister Robert Fico, whose term in power expires today, was the first among Slovak politicians to vote early this morning in Bratislava.

In the elections, people choose not only their representatives, but also the character of the country, he said after he voted, as reported by the TASR newswire.

“It’s in [people’s] hands and I will respect any result,” Fico said as quoted by TASR.

Fico said he spent the last day of his term putting things in order in his office. He usually tries to vote early so that he can spend the day with his family.

President Andrej Kiska has also planned a family day for today. He voted together with his wife and their son in Poprad, where he lives with his family.

“I think that every single person who cares about Slovakia, should go to vote,” Kiska said as reported by TASR. He said he considers today’s election the most important one in the past decade.
