PRIME Minister Robert Fico has won a lawsuit against 7 Plus, the publisher of the Plus 7 Dní weekly at a Bratislava district court, the Sme daily reported.
The court ordered the publisher to pay Fico €66,387 in damages to compensate for the harm the prime minister claimed his reputation had suffered as a result of an article entitled “Camouflage”.
Three years ago the tabloid weekly wrote that Fico called reporters who attempted to take photos of his car “dirty scumbags”. The prime minister denied having used the expression. The district court’s verdict was a reiteration of its earlier decision from 2008, which had been partially overturned by the Bratislava Regional Court in May 2009.
The current verdict can still be appealed by 7 Plus.
