Prime Minister and Smer party leader Robert Fico, who seems set on gaining a reputation as an outcast within the European community—similar to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán—recently gave a 30-minute interview to Russian state television, Rossiya-1.
Speaking in Slovak, Fico answered questions from Olga Skabeyeva, the programme’s host and a well-known propagandist. Skabeyeva, the wife of a Russian MP and supporter of Russian President Vladimir Putin, co-hosts “60 Minutes” with her husband, openly endorsing Russia’s war in Ukraine.
The interview aired on Wednesday morning.
Just recently, pro-Russian MEP Ľuboš Blaha (Smer) travelled to Moscow, spreading Kremlin propaganda on social media, garnering attention in Russian media. Earlier this year, he gave an interview to Russian state television, even welcoming a Russian TV crew to the Slovak parliament.
