Finland to open up labour market

FINLAND has decided to open up its labour market as of May 1, 2006 to the 10 new EU members that joined the EU on May 1, 2004, including Slovakia.

The message was announced by Jari Vilen, the chairman of the Finnish parliament's EU Affairs Committee during his visit to Bratislava on November 21.

Finland has decided not to extend the two-year transition period that it introduced along with other 11 old EU member states when the new members joined the union.
