A ROMA family, including a two-year old child, met its death in a fatal fire in the Roma settlement of Huncovce (Kežmarok district, Prešov region) on January 4, the daily SME wrote.
The police have started an investigation into the fire, which is thought to have been caused by flammable material placed near a stove in one of the Roma cottages.
The neighbours said they heard an explosion before the fire started and that they had tried to stop the blaze. But the only source of water was a water tap at a nearby house as the creek was frozen.
Some locals suggested to the police that the cottage could have been set on fire on purpose, for reasons of revenge.
