SLOVAKIA'S Anti-Corruption Office has asked prosecutors to charge two former representatives of the Armex company with illegally exporting military material to North Korea in 1998, the TASR news wire reported.
One of the accused is the former general director of Armex, Víťazoslav Moric, an ex-MP of the Slovak National Party.
According to investigators, the two men face charges of breaking regulations for handling controlled goods and technology.
If convicted, they could face a sentence of up to eight years in prison. The Anti-Corruption Office alleged that Armex agreed to supply airport equipment from a third country to the Chonma Trading Corporation of Pyongyang. After the equipment arrived in Slovakia, the company registered it as civilian and tried to export it to North Korea via Ukraine, according to investigators.
