Slovakia’s Environment Minister, Viliam Turský, nominated by the Slovak National Party, will have to file a report with the Slovak parliament concerning the ministry’s sale of excess CO2 emission quotas and the manner in which the purchasing company was chosen, the TASR newswire wrote.
The initiative of three opposition parties – SDKÚ, KDH and SMK – was also supported on June 25 by former Prime Minister Vladimír Mečiar and all members of his HZDS party except for Zdenka Kramplová who abstained from the vote. The proposal initiated by MP Pavol Frešo from SDKÚ gained the support of 75 MPs out of the 140 present, TASR wrote. The first attempt to pass requiring the report was made on Wednesday, June 24, and most of the HZDS MPs voted for it but it failed by just one vote. TASR
