SLOVAKIA is home to three carmakers of which PSA Peugeot Citroën in Trnava is the second oldest. In early November, cyclist Peter Sagan, who is the ambassador of the Citroën car brand in Slovakia, symbolically marked the 400,000 Citroën C3 Picasso that rolled off Trnava’s production lines, the TASR newswire wrote.
The carmaker began to manufacture the C3 Picasso in early 2009 and it has been manufacturing this model exclusively in Trnava. Apart from this model, it also manufactures the Peugeot 208.
The new director of PSA Peugeot Citroën, Rémi Girardon, said during the ceremony that the plant manufactures 1,200 cars daily and that the plan this year is to produce up to 255,000 cars.
For the year 2015 they plan an increase in production. In 2013, the plant manufactured over 248,000 cars.
Sagan is the three-time holder of the green jersey from the Tour de France and has been cooperating with the carmaker for two years.
