AS OF November 2006 Slovak households will pay 4.26 percent more for natural gas. This increase will only be effective until the end of the year.
In January 2007 gas prices should then decrease by 3.07 percent.
Although the government has been pushing hard for lower gas and electricity prices, the gas utility Slovenský plynárenský priemysel says that the new proposed prices are not connected to this pressure.
They argued that the decreased prices are mainly a result of the positive development of oil prices on the world market as well as the strengthening of the Slovak crown towards the US dollar, Sme wrote.
