AT 23:00 on the evening of February 20, unknown offenders seriously assaulted and robbed the mother of the general prosecutor, Dobroslav Trnka, private TV channel JOJ reported on its website.
The incident happened in Bratislava, between Bajkalská and Trnavská streets.
The victim was transported to a hospital in Bratislava's Ružinov district and later underwent neurological examination at a hospital in Kramáre.
She suffered a severe head injury and a broken arm. Her injuries were caused by a blunt object, Rút Geržová, the spokeswoman for the hospital told the Sme daily.
The police said they have begun investigating a suspected robbery but might subsequently change the case, regional police spokeswoman Tatiana Kurucová said.
She did not comment on whether the police are also examining other motives, such as cases the general prosecutor is currently handling.
The Office of the General Prosecutor refused to comment on the attack, Sme wrote.
