GERMANY's candidacy for the newly-created UN Council for Human Rights was presented to Slovak Deputy Foreign Minister Magda Vášáryová by the German Ambassador to Slovakia, Jochen Trebesch, at their meeting in Bratislava on April 3.
According to the TASR news agency, Trebesch asked Slovakia's diplomatic corps to support his country's candidacy.
The voting on members of the council will take place in New York on May 9.
