The government has decided to amend the Public Procurement Act in a fast-track legislative procedure, it was revealed on October 1.
The immediate impetus was the numerous objections raised by unsuccessful bidders in the country's electronic road-toll system tender. Due to the prolonged procurement, the state is suffering economic damage, according to a statement from the Cabinet.
"The amendment ... aims to prevent the abuse of objections against other acts carried out by the tender organiser," the material submitted by the Public Procurement Office (ÚVO) and the Transport Ministry reads.
As of January 1, 2009, announcements to be published in the official 'Bulletin of the European Union' and the 'Bulletin of Public Procurement' will be distributed electronically. TASR
