Prime Minister Robert Fico's spokesperson Silvia Glendová said on June 26 that the government was not surprised about criticisms from the Business Alliance of Slovakia (PAS). After all, the government’s priorities are to promote solidarity in society and provide support to socially-disadvantaged groups, she said.
PAS recently slammed the Slovak government for its steps in the sphere of business and enterprise. According to the Alliance, measures adopted by the Cabinet and Parliament over the past two years have contributed to a deterioration in the conditions for doing business.
The Business Environment Index, which the Alliance makes public quarterly based on its own surveys among entrepreneurs, has fallen continually since the new government came to power in 2006, dropping by 6.5 points to 120. TASR
