The Industrial Production Index (IPP) rose by only 0.4 percent year-on-year in November 2011, according to data published by the Statistics Office. Compared to the previous month industrial production, after seasonal influences were removed, fell by 2.4 percent month-on-month, the TASR newswire reported.
Production decelerated in the case of electricity, gas, steam and cold air supplies by 0.4 percent, and in mining and quarrying by 10.2 percent.
Overall production was affected by an increase in the manufacturing of metal and fabricated metal products excluding machinery and equipment by 6.9 percent, manufacturing of machinery and equipment not classified elsewhere by 9.5 percent, manufacturing of textiles, apparel, leather and related products by 7.3 percent, manufacturing of transport equipment by 0.8 percent, and manufacturing of rubber and plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products by 3.9 percent.
Production fell most in manufacturing of computer, electronic and optical products (by 9.3 percent) and in the manufacturing of pharmaceutical products (by 22.3 percent).
Over the first 11 months of 2011, the IPP was up 7.5 percent year-on-year.
