PATIENTS are least satisfied with the services in small hospitals administered by the self-governing regions, according to a survey conducted by the state-run health insurer, Všeobecná Zdravotná Poisťovňa (VšZP).
Hospitals in Rožňava and Galanta rank at the bottom of the survey. On the other hand, hospitals run as stock companies received praise from patients who responded to the health insurer’s questions. None of the big state-run teaching hospitals made it into the top ten, however.
The best hospitals according to the survey are the specialised cardiologic facility Kardiocentrum in Nitra, followed by the National Oncologic Institute in Bratislava and the Military Health Facilities in Nová Polianka.
The survey asked patients about the behaviour and approach of doctors and nurses, as well as the quality of accommodation, cleaning services and food in the hospitals.
