As of January 1, households in western Slovakia will get the steepest drop of prices in the country, said Holjenčík. He specified that clients of the western Slovak local electricity distributor Západoslovenská Energetika, will pay 3.67 percent less for electricity on average next year. The price of electricity for households supplied by the central Slovak electricity distributor Stredoslovenská Energetika will decrease 2.7 percent on average; the lowest drop of 1.73 percent is predicted for clients of Východoslovenská Energetika a.s. that supplies eastern Slovakia with electricity.

The decrease could have been more, added Holjenčík for SITA, had there not been the duty to take part in support of renewable energy generation which has negative impacts on end-prices of electricity. The price of "green energy" is several times higher compared with traditionally generated energy. SITA
