The price of electricity for Slovak households will drop 2.87 percent on average as of next year, the SITA newswire wrote. The head of the Regulatory Office for Network Industries (ÚRSO), Jozef Holjenčík, specified that if alternative suppliers are also considered the decrease in electricity prices for next year is more than 3 percent on average. Next year, mainly so-called large households that use electric heating should benefit from lower electricity prices.
As of January 1, households in western Slovakia will get the steepest drop of prices in the country, said Holjenčík. He specified that clients of the western Slovak local electricity distributor Západoslovenská Energetika, will pay 3.67 percent less for electricity on average next year. The price of electricity for households supplied by the central Slovak electricity distributor Stredoslovenská Energetika will decrease 2.7 percent on average; the lowest drop of 1.73 percent is predicted for clients of Východoslovenská Energetika a.s. that supplies eastern Slovakia with electricity.
The decrease could have been more, added Holjenčík for SITA, had there not been the duty to take part in support of renewable energy generation which has negative impacts on end-prices of electricity.
