Urbáni told the Slovak daily SME on January 10 that in his considerations on his potential candidacy Mečiar is concerned about possible attacks on his family, which, according to the MP, is one of the reasons Mečiar has not announced his candidacy so far.

Mečiar is expected to decide at the HZDS meeting in Žilina on January 24. All HZDS party bodies and the voter base supports Mečiar for president, according to Urbáni.
