Within the next two years, the Interior Ministry plans to merge its Migration Office and a part of the Foreigners and Border Police into a new Immigration and Naturalisation Authority, the SITA newswire reported.
"Migration is getting to be a more and more serious problem in the European Union. We have to react, as fragmentation of competencies among various authorities makes reactions of the state more complicated," said Interior Minister Daniel Lipšic to SITA after his meeting with Dominique Paille, the head of the French Authority for Immigration and Integration, in Paris.
Lipšic stated that France is a successful model for this kind of agency.
