Interior Ministry to get penalty

THE INTERIOR Ministry has been fined Sk12 million (€310,000) as a sanction for failing to put out for public tender the purchase of firefighting vehicles of a value of Sk200 million (€5.18 million), the daily Hospodárske noviny wrote.

The ministry bought the vehicles directly from the Stražan company, an announced no competition for the purchase of the vehicles.

According the Public Procurement Authority (ÚVO) the ministry did not comply with the law, therefore it imposed the fine. The fine is the highest yet issued for non-compliance of the public tender rules.
