The market for online job searches recorded the deepest fall ever in 2009 according to data available to the Profesia.sk job portal, the SITA newswire reported.
The most significant change last year was a drop in the number of posted job offers that started in October 2008.
“The steepest decline halted after April when offers dropped 50 percent in monthly terms,” the portal reported, as quoted by SITA. “Since then, the fall has been softer.”
During 2009, job offers dwindled in all sectors but mining and metallurgy, wood processing, engineering and manufacturing suffered the most. The sectors of insurance, education, law and legislation reported the slightest declines in the number of vacant jobs. The health sector, pharmaceutical industry and the field of social affairs reported an increase in job offer on an annual basis: up 3 percent in the average.
The deepest downswing was reported with jobs for skilled workers and employees in the sector of services, namely of 51 percent. Management and skilled staff in non-technical fields recorded only a modest decrease in job offers. SITA
