Former education minister and now opposition deputy Martin Fronc has blamed the current education minister, Ján Mikolaj for bringing politics into a dispute over geography textbooks used in schools for ethnic Hungarians living in Slovakia.
The dispute has caused tensions in relations between Slovakia and Hungary, the SITA newswire wrote. The deputy chairman of the Christian-Democratic Movement (KDH) also said that "Bringing textbooks... to Brussels, as the opposition SMK deputies want to do, is irresponsible." He believed the continuing debate will harm ethnic Hungarian pupils in Slovakia and cause unease among their parents. SITA
