The coalition party the Christian Democrats (KDH) says it is opposed to the introduction of an anti-discrimination law to protect women, Roma, and homosexuals. The European Commission has already warned Slovakia that it is missing such a law.
Attempts to introduce anti-discrimination measures have failed twice; first in June 2002 and more recently this month, when the new labour code was passed by the cabinet without a number of paragraphs that dealt with discrimination issues.
