US VICE PRESIDENT Joe Biden spoke with Slovak President Andrej Kiska on September 2 about bilateral relations, the NATO summit, and the crisis in Ukraine, the Office of the Vice President informed.
Biden noted during the conversation the strong bilateral relationship between Slovakia and the US, and congratulated Kiska on Slovakia’s Constitution Day on September 1.
He also reaffirmed the US steadfast commitment to NATO’s collective defence under Article 5, and welcomed Kiska’s support for strengthening the transatlantic relationship and for Slovakia’s contributions to NATO, according to the official release.
Kiska noted that on September 2 reverse flow of gas had begun between Slovakia and Ukraine, which can help Ukraine meet some of its energy needs. The two men also discussed the need to continue to impose consequences on Russia for its aggressive acts in Ukraine, the official release reads.
