The mayor expects that the arrival of Hankook will create more jobs in the region than the 1,500 guaranteed by the investor. "Those are direct jobs. However, a further 500 to 700 jobs will subsequently be created in the sphere of transport infrastructure and other services," Misak said.

Economy Minister Pavol Rusko is convinced that Hankook will decide to build its new plant in Slovakia. The government is offering the conditions the investor requires, Rusko said.

Hankook Tires plans to invest €500m (Sk20bn) in a plant in the CEE region. It is currently deciding between Slovakia, Hungary and Poland. The decision is due to be taken this week.
