The building, with a brick ground floor and wooden upper floors, was accommodating children on a skiing trip from school when a fire started in the early morning. The flames required 40 firemen with 10 devices in order to be extinguished, including both professionals as well as volunteers from Vitanová, Zuberec, Liesek, Suchá Hora and Čimhová. Their efforts were complicated by the poorly accessible terrain. They succeeded at around 15:30, the SITA newswire wrote. Some of the firefighters remained on site to continue monitoring it for severl more hours.
