Markíza leads in news service objectivity with 27.9 percent

THE MOST objective television news programme can be seen on the private TV channel Markíza, according to 27.9 percent of viewers addressed by the MML Omnibus poll.

The STV TV channel, which is a part of the public-service broadcaster RTVS, followed with 18.7 percent of the respondents considering its news to be the most objective among Slovak television news, closely followed by the tabloid TV JOJ with 18.3 percent of viewers trusting its news service.

The news-only TV channel TA3 was mentioned by 16.6 percent of the respondents as the most objective one.

While 5.7 percent of the respondents mentioned news outlets other than the five biggest channels, 12.8 percent of those polled were not able to answer the question, the SITA newswire reported from the poll, conducted by the Median SK agency.

The opinion poll about TV news service was conducted on 2,118 respondents aged 14 to 79, between June 24 and September 15, 2013.

The primetime news show of Markíza TV has been the most viewed news programme on the Slovak market in the long term, with the average audience in September 2013 at 715,000 (42.7 percent share) in the universal target group 12+ and at 356,000 (40.3 percent share) in the strategic target group 12-54, SITA wrote.
