Mayors of towns and villages are outraged by the new methods of applying for the EU funds for reconstruction of schools, the Sme daily writes on February 6.
Many of them were dismayed by the system launched by Construction Minister Marián Janušek, which requires that applicants for Euro-funds register through the internet.
The registration started at 9 a.m. on February 4 and although it was to last for several days, applicants found themselves unable to register after the first half hour. The ministry then halted the registration after the first 50 applicants.
The mayors have already turned to the Slovak Association of Towns and Villages (ZMOS) with this problem. There is a suspicion that the first 50 applicants might have been informed in advance of when the registration would start. SITA
