THE DAILY paper Sme claims to have construction invoices issued in 1999 and 2000 to former Prime Minister Vladimír Mečiar, according to which Mečiar was invoiced over Sk41 million ($890,000) for repairs to his Elektra villa, not the Sk5 million he has publicly claimed.
The documents have been confirmed as valid by the tax office and the financial police, both of which are investigating the matter.
Mečiar has said he cannot comment on the documents because he has not seen them, but has repeated that he spent little more than Sk5 million on the renovated hotel.
