At its October 21 sitting, the media watchdog Slovak Council for Radio and Television Broadcasting (RRTV) focused its attention on a statement by the Slovak Television Council from October 13, in which the STV body labeled RRTV decisions inappropriate and politically biased and pressured by opposition political parties.
RRTV chairman Peter Juras said that as the license watchdog is not superior to the STV Council, it cannot punish it for this statement, which is the third verbal attack by the public TV station on the RRTV. However, Juras recommended that the Slovak Television Council devote more attention to public television broadcasting and its legal obligations, and waste less time on evaluations of other electronic media bodies.
