Justice Minister Daniel Lipšic plans to abolish 14 of 63 district and regional courts, as well as cut some of the 82 judges who sit on the Supreme Court, as a way of improving the quality and speed of court work.
Slovakia has been criticised for both the length of court trials and corruption in the judicial sector. Lipšic, who at 29 is the youngest minister in Slovak history, has vowed to reform the courts and improve their reputation.
