The son of former Interior Minister Ladislav Pittner sold 10 flats to the ministry although his company did not participate in a public tender for the job.
Peter Pittner received the contract last year while his father was still in office.
Ex-minister Pittner said he did not see "any conflict of interests" in the deal. He said that when he found out his son wanted to apply for the tender in April 2000 he asked him not to do so and his son obeyed. Six months later the ministry itself approached Pittner Jr.
Pittner Jr said ministry employees explained the tender was not successful because the firms which participated in it were offering expensive, badly located or unsuitable flats.
