THE CONSTRUCTION of the new South Korean KIA plant near Žilina is facing more delays, the Pravda daily reported.
Some landowners sold their plots for Sk140(€3.5) per square metre while others refused to do so and recently received a state offer of Sk350(€8.8)
The landowners who sold their plots for the cheaper price of Sk140 have now written a petition asking for the state to make up the difference to Sk350.
If the state refuses, they are threatening not to sell land that still needs to be purchased for the plant's infrastructure - road and network connections, the Pravda daily wrote.
Žilina mayor Ján Slota said that some 150 hectares of land still need to be purchased for the infrastructure and that around one third of the landowners who have signed the petition own the plots.
It is unclear how the cabinet will react. While Economy Minitser Pavol Rusko plans to submit the proposal to pay the difference in sum to the protesting landowners, Justice Minister Daniel Lipšic says it is legally impossible.
