THE PARTIES of the ruling coalition, especially Smer and the Slovak National Party (SNS), have taken criticism for nominating friends and family members to the management of state companies.
MP Jozef Ďuračka from the SNS reportedly helped his 23-year-old daughter Kristína Ďuračková get a seat on the board of directors of the Trnavská Teplárenská heating plant in Western Slovakia. Ďuračková, who has not yet finished university, will be earning about Sk100,000 (€2,660) a month in the post. She replaces Trnava Mayor Štefan Bošnák, the Pravda daily wrote.
"Miss Ďuračková does not have enough experience to decide on important issues for the town," Bošnák said. According to the mayor, "such political nominations are sad".
Ďuračka said his daughter "is not a stupid girl. She speaks three languages and is about to complete her studies in law." The MP admitted, however, that no job tender had been held.
