SLOVAKIA is expected to send another 30 soldiers to Iraq, but the cabinet and the parliament have yet to agree on the mission.
Defence Minister Juraj Liška said that the new soldiers would join the Slovak unit of 85 military engineers sweeping the Iraqi land for mines.
The new unit would increase the security of the military engineers, said Liška.
According to former Brigadier General Peter Gajdoš, who recently returned from Iraq, Slovak soldiers are working in several places and are "doing a lot for the local inhabitants. They cleared thousands of square metres of mine fields."
