De Lucia is a member of the Naples 'Camorre' that launched a gang war last year. Several Camorre members were arrested by Italian police last December, but de Lucia escaped and went into hiding abroad.

Interpol officers in Rome, in cooperation with Slovak Interpol and other Slovak police departments, discovered that de Lucia was in Slovakia.

Ugo de Lucia was arrested in a small guest house in Poprad by Košice Regional Police Department officers under an international warrant.
