DOBROSLAV Trnka was officially named Slovakia's next attorney general on January 26.
Trnka, 40, was elected to a five-year term in the post by MPs in mid-December. Current Attorney General Milan Hanzel ends his term in late January.
The Slovak daily SME wrote on January 27 that Trnka was preparing personnel and organisational changes for the office, but he would not disclose any details until he discussed them with his prosecutors.
Trnka said that one of the major tasks ahead of him was the creation of a special attorney office that, in May, will begin to focus on organised crimes, including corruption and the mafia.
