Good evening. Here is theTuesday, April 9edition of Today in Slovakia - the main news of the day in less than five minutes.
Government's problem with cadastre
The Fico government plans to limit access to cadastre data so that only registered users can have it, writes the news website Aktuality.sk.
The Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre Authority is preparing to amend the Act on Real Estate Cadastre. The government justifies this with the need to protect the privacy of owners, arguing that there is "increasing criminality in relation to the misuse of personal data of owners of land or buildings."
This step would also make the work of journalists harder. The murdered journalist Ján Kuciak used the real estate cadastre. Thanks to the register, it's recently been revealed that Peter Pellegrini, the next Slovak president, uses a villa owned by MP Peter Náhlik.
