Amnesty International Slovensko along with the Cluster Munition Coalition, which has membership of around 300 organizations from eighty countries, have launched a national campaign to urge Slovakia to sign the Convention on Cluster Munitions, the SITA newswire wrote.
Together with Poland, Romania and Greece, Slovakia remains one of the last four European Union members which have previously produced or still produce cluster bombs and have yet to sign the Convention on Cluster Munitions, that bans their production, storage, and use.
In reaction to the Amnesty International's call, the Foreign Ministry said that together with the Defense Ministry and the Economy Ministry, they are preparing a Draft Action Plan aimed at a gradual process to fulfill the commitments resulting from the Convention. SITA
