Bratislava Old Town has turned down requests for the construction of an Islamic information centre and prayer room near the centre of the capital.
Mohamed Safwan Hasna, administrator for the Islamic Foundation told the daily SME that they have been trying to obtain the permission for years, and that all other European captials have Islamic prayer rooms and cultural centres.
The Old Town refused permission for the centre because the suggested location was in a residential area and the group was not registered as a religious organisation.
