THE FRENCH-Slovak Chamber of Commerce (FSKO) was launched in 1994 and currently has more than 150 members. After the commercial department of the Slovak Embassy in France was cancelled in 2011 and because the commercial department of the French Embassy in Slovakia has not been providing commercial services for French companies as of January 2012, FSKO is the only institution serving these purposes on the bilateral level, Dušan Huszár of FSKO told The Slovak Spectator.
“The French-Slovak Chamber of Commerce, a partner of the French agency Ubifrance for international development of companies, is one of the most important contacts for French companies interested in the Slovak market, and also for Slovak companies interested in France,” said Huszár.
The chamber organises various activities helping to develop French-Slovak trade relations including: round-table discussions with members of the cabinet and state and public administration, seminars and trainings, presentations of French and Slovak companies, trade missions of French companies in Slovakia, participation of companies at fairs in France and Slovakia as well as Days of Slovakia for French business persons in France.
To help to develop French-Slovak trade relations, FSKO has established a close cooperation with the Slovak Embassy in France.
Among the chamber’s latest activities, Huszár mentioned the participation of its representative at the invitation of the Slovak Embassy to France Marek Eštók at the ceremonial opening of an honorary Slovak consulate in Bordeaux on October 6. The chamber used this opportunity to present Slovak wines and meet with representatives of French companies interested in Slovakia.
